Afterward -- Not thanks for coming out we appreciate him and obviously you know halfway point of the season. And the numbers from Alex Smith were phenomenal. And in a lot of ways -- I thought he needed to have a nice bounce back game wasn't playing well for a couple weeks OS that was really important -- -- did you view that is. As a similar. Circumstance form to play well. We don't. I think delicate played well over the last two years outside of a game here -- bear. Yeah I think the biggest thing with Alex -- Everybody wants to. To see him come out in one of those big games. And -- big shootouts. And make all the throws all across the field and I think that's the only thing that's gonna quiet the critics of Alex. He's a perfect fit for the often in what they view he rarely make mistakes. The unfortunate thing is that they don't ask him to throw the ball over the plate and threw for 300 yards a game like a lot of guys in this. -- and because of that when he -- and -- a bad game everybody wants to jump on them as they -- only manager can't be that he can. Play with the big guys but. I think he's. He's played extremely well I think it's a rarity. Will move over the last couple years when he had a bad game as opposed to rarity when he had a good game so. I don't expect anything less about politically great inefficient last night like he has a lot of black could be years. -- when your quarterbacking a team to a Super Bowl. Is there a point at which the quarterback is called upon to make those kind of throws somewhere along the line. In in winning at all. The question. You know I've been saying for years to -- you just go back and look at the team. That -- it they have that dynamic quarterback they have a quarterback that if nothing else is going right right that date that they can make plays executives -- will because it does happen. We think it's playoff time you have that -- it would shoot out. You got it. You know you've got outscored them -- it happens every -- -- you know every playoff on the side there's different ways in which you -- compared to defense that -- step up. What they're always comes a time -- that quarterback. Have to step up and make more plays in the other guys in -- he did a great job of that last year against Drew -- in the war he made every play. We -- -- -- -- he answered but anywhere that can do that the next week it was a dogfight in the needed him to make the plays against you that many of the the giants and unfortunately. He wasn't able to do that. In that game so it it always comes down in my opinion to the quarterback outside of having a great shut down defense the defense second step up there and it stop everybody across the board and -- their defense is -- -- the -- -- last year there seems second score on him and -- so we can fall back on the court. And the -- two time league MVP Kurt Warner on the drive then. -- what's they death I think the niners did and ultimately admit it may have been to Alex's detriment here was. The little cute with Colin -- predicted its and it seemed like it was a nice option but in hindsight. Would you look at as as cap ex reps increased. Some cut Alex is deficiency. Decreased seemingly they have scrapped that now. Do you agree that they capita Qaeda. Clouded the the flow or interrupted the flow old Alex Smith at some point. Where I mean I think it always -- -- and now we think it's but it's a nice option. -- he told them -- in the air you know 5610. Snaps a game and you know it's unquestionably it did work because teams are prepared for the not expecting. -- until that happens then we get mesmerized with that back up guy and what he does and people start saying maybe she get more ways but he he should start. And you know you'll realize that that's not the case until I think a lot of people got hung up with those games and they will run the football. So well in jeopardy would come in yeah I might make a pass down the field that looked pretty but it was more based on the fact that everybody expected him and the 49ers to run in those situations and yes it does take away. In the flow of quarterback who wants to be there every play it doesn't want to it hit the ball to somebody else. Especially if they go we did and they have a bad play and they go in and out of that -- now you're in second or third ball and they have to throw you back you -- Michael you -- You gotta make up somebody else's mistake so to speak and so I think it's very very tough for any starting quarterback it would be a competing to give up reps at any point again. -- we had two different types of quarterback here in the Bay Area in two very different situations. But from a quarterback's. Viewpoint continue grade out the seasons that Carson Palmer and Alex Smith -- had to this point. You know I think Alex at this point had a great season. You know he had the one game against the giants we're making me it is and they played lights out. They created a little bit of disarray for -- you know that we -- some different looks that have made -- Antrel -- got -- really well made a couple great plays on the ball. You know they have -- haven't let it means -- but outside of that I think he's had a tremendous year by the human grade -- you must. A low eight particularly good solid every other game outside of that one. Carson. Carson bit up and down and I continue to watch them on film in I just feel like. All the pieces are there within that offense that I think he's still pressing because they got a lot of young guys that aren't necessarily help them -- that I don't think are. To the point where he knows where they're going to be on every single snapped. And with that it's tough to play the quarterback especially -- -- he's still around the timing game in the morning to release the ball and so. I think he's pressed a little bit I think he's made some plays that are uncharacteristic of him. I think it stems from the fact that they're just there a couple with one another that they're so young on the outside that the struggle and they haven't got the running game going which I thought. Would really had to. Some of the good things he didn't -- the last few YouTube that back but. That hasn't really come along so I just think he's pressed with a little bit we wanna give a great but I don't think he. He struggled but it's not just him it's a lot of pieces that they had going on there. -- that begs the question you got a gimmick Greg has a little bit of that leaves -- way too open to interpretation and we said he did and left. Definitely don't give and I think he's done a good thing about you know price below the you know because. Again I think to -- some good things but nothing to do but the bad thing. And make some decisions that are that you know uncharacteristic of him. But -- can't put at all on about all the things that I just looked at you know it's got it in. In -- about a project below the but but a number of those things are because by the guys. Mr. Warner former MVP two time MVP in the NFL of these on the NFL network in Sunday mornings a lot of fun with sap in obviously more shall end. Of course Michael Irvin and -- just a good -- just phenomenal. You guys have a -- fought at that it's so obvious and has so much in common with those other guys ever let that happen. Yeah sure exactly. -- we have a good -- -- -- great thing is we got a number personalities and we have a good time but they don't know football and that's before important that we can have a good time you know have those statements whether. You know we're just adored one another but -- when it comes to really break down the gains and talk about what could be the defense in defense -- blonde with wore their -- quarterback and -- -- one play -- back Marshall and all the things it's it's a great mix because those guys really really you know football it's fun to be around them because you can actually. Bounce things off of me and you learn something every time you're on the that we think that the people of all we're gonna learn something every time -- watch. Now we are there's no doubt you Okur we ask about course in. A bigger picture here for the raiders the AFC west is pretty jumbled here with a couple of teams at three and four Denver's -- regional. It is this just a little bit of a soft spot the schedule where there with the raiders have taken advantage or do you think they can hang around for couple weeks or may be more. Well I think you have to get a lot more consistent. That to hang around. You know I think they wanted to -- -- chiefs team that was really in disarray they were all over the place and you know and they hung around for awhile and I just I think there's just too many things going -- the raiders right now they've got to tighten up if they want to be in this race even though. The west is the cut up for grabs but the way Peyton Manning playing in that defense and that team is playing in Denver. You really have to think that you look at the first part of their schedule and for them to come out 43. At this point I think -- really really good shape. You're going down to the weaker part of their schedules so to speak flooding they're gonna be the front runners in those other teams really have to tighten up a mean across the board you look at -- Diego case -- or Oakland they'll have to tighten up with -- wanna be in their race. You know 67 games. Halfway home the NFL season Kurt Warner breaking it down here the trust thank you drew appreciate -- man thanks locker.
