I've never had that -- before. It's definitely a much different mindset than last spring training as far as you know last screen yeah I knew I was going to Sacramento on knew there was no way has gonna make the team. You know it's just come out and needs from day one you start trying to play the best you can in and treat everything like it's the same and I don't know I don't think -- playing why is going to be much different there's definitely. Tyson or I'm going to be this year are at least you know where everything's gonna start with. That is not I mean obviously -- there probably look at and yeah a little bit of platoon situation. At the spot but knowing that you're their guy that you are a lot -- How does that. Allow you to change your approach going into spring training. The approach doesn't change just because. You know Amin -- baseball's baseball not gonna approach when spring different than the other just because them in the big leagues minor minor leagues and other but I. Yeah I mean you know he just. Prepare like got to play every day in down. Get ready for the season that that's about all you can do you know whether you platoon or where you play -- time where the -- the bench. I don't think you prepare any different way you just got to treat it every day as saying. What does it mean to you were -- -- -- when they traded away Chris Carter. Now well I mean you know obviously he. We're we're gonna miss Carter because he he had a -- -- to have a lot of a lot to do is where we ended up last year and down the unite together. Have you know we did some pretty special things in the short time we were there. Bat you know he's going to a place that's a really good situation for him he's young and he's got a lot of -- going to ballpark as much smaller than. Oakland so he's got a really good chance to succeed -- as far as me personally. I didn't really look at is any different just because. You know -- the with the way we we do things here you know it's probably going to be some sort of platoon situation anyway so it's probably not going to be. For me specifically much different have a situation. Com. You know whatever the situation works out to be in however plays out -- honestly just thankful to have a job and end to be one of the guys because. Last year this time how is open to play a lot of go to Japan so things change. Like him and help how are you different as a baseball player today. Compared to today a year ago. No different at all but I'm not differ a little bit except for the fact that I finally did I finally a comp but not a comes -- Played the ability that I thought I had to play -- in the big leagues I'd always play well on the minor leagues and I you know I always. I had an opportunity once in Pittsburgh to play and didn't do very well -- -- And you know and I had just. I always knew that if I got another opportunity for the things that I had learned in the way that I felt that. -- I would make the most of and I was thankful for that opportunity but as far as the type of player I am I'm no different. But when you look at that opportunity in Pittsburgh. And you look at this one what what did you do different that made this successful. Well. In Pittsburgh I was told I was going to be every day right fielder. And first game of the season I've played the next three except. And then I've played one and I sat and -- you at that time meaning young player. I took that as he told me out -- every -- every -- guy and I'm playing three times a week puzzling as silly I did know how to handle that. And you know it affected me a lot here in the season I was bitter and I you know I'm not that I've played back on purpose by any means but I pressed too hard. To play well. And I was like you know what I'm gonna show UN and set a worry about going -- play in the game I worried about proving people upstairs wrong they actually played every day. He can't do that when I got here to the big leagues here. I I knew I and I knew the situation -- like you know what. This isn't for want and who has my last chance this is and so that was there but also like whenever I play. If I play wants a week if I played five times a week I'm gonna do damage on them I'm gonna worry about that. Instead of worrying about proving somebody wrong or -- some might actually playing more I'm gonna make them the most of the opportunity I haven't just played -- game and and that's all it it is you know that the difference is really just maturity isn't it isn't so much. The player on the same type of player you have learned things along the way -- learned who I am as a player. But it's definitely maturity in the fact that realize in that I think. Think young guys come up to the big leagues and I think they have that expectation of playing they have. They just don't understand the -- -- anti. An entirely just giving T if you're prospects you're gonna play her play every day where these stroke or not you get here. You've got to prove that you can play and then you play -- -- when you don't play well you sit. And and I think -- they took me a little bit of time to learn that the palace so used to be in a prospect guy and and you know that's that's really to make a long story longer it's. Yeah itself out. It's just maturity I think -- with -- 095 point seven. Game hey it's it's great ask the double cluster and the other hey it's that easy. You know you mentioned Pittsburgh police now field a lot of people who showed up to the ballpark last you would say I am my assets -- first baseman a lot of people are realized you're an outfielder you made the transition to first base. Talk about that transition for you because obviously was about waning wearing it to the vaguely yes. I had played a little bit at first base. It was definitely had a little bit a transition to attempt I am played first base and a few years and even when I did play in the Meyer got him play it much. So it was definitely learn as you go thing and he you know let. Here now that we're in spring training I've got to time in the the resources and the and the you know pressure to learn the position and really just take the time to learn good fundamentals. Last year. It was to tackle the ball and try to get him out at first base and then if you -- if you mess up try to hit a home run. You know everybody else forget about it he hit a home run. So you know and down find that I got some time to really try to learn the position I'm excited about that bit that's really what it was it was. Honestly I looked at it as a way to give me analyze them. And and it worked itself that's all that's all I cared about and now let them you know him in the lineup now it's about getting better over there and being more complete player. I've seen a lot of bands. Wrist bands you have the black band I will. Explain that to us and. Yet this is from a book called the resolution for men. It's. Basically I I am very strong Christian man without a movie with Christian beliefs hand down all this means is that. I will not resolve to be a good got -- godly father and a -- figure and a godly example as opposed to. Where I usually find myself ending up which is. The guy that's not so much of the godly example so this is just are minor it head to be who I wanna be in to -- the lord expects me to be and not everyone. Suspects maybe he mentioned being a father you know I always thought the big leagues you planned out the birth of your child for the offseason. We eat you get your second child coming here in what April. Yes. We know what I'm gonna keep this short. We started off trying to make it in the offseason and it just didn't work out and I didn't change anything that was due and so in my life that pregnant that's not me that's there. You know now we're excited we've we've got swallowed a three year old named -- and in this one's going to be another boy named Brody and dies due in late April bit. Yes usually he had the Smart thing is to try to plan and in the offseason and that -- and accused of being very Smart so. -- -- good Trier is the ally to you why should be thrilled that you may be on the road and have to get on a plane that's can be a lot of fun right on she's pumped gas. She's -- she's really excited to see she can do all of this and take your material by herself while in labor she's talked about that likes to challenge yourself.
