Cardinals in 06 follow him on Twitter at David X -- -- 22. How are you today David -- died. I'm doing good things sadly. Thank you very much for joining us before we get into the games I got to ask you this. Is it true that you used to go to a library to use the Internet when -- with the angels. And the other guys there would roll their eyes when you -- yeah -- I'm on the -- I play for the angels are native believe that you were David -- that you Wear a baseball player. That was when I was in spring training I was not act and and I'm not actually in on Arizona's. Yes they -- that. The European followed me though. They had to keep secrets that they had no clue but it would go in Anaheim in Newport and go to the library -- and like my email account. Yeah and in the guys who would believe -- yeah I'm David accidentally over the -- is right yeah yeah yeah. That was when you sign on AOL is -- -- where you Melancon takes this -- I was those donate to the influx. Well some of us are still on -- also only thing that's funny cries for David that what do you remember the most about that 02 series you guys taken on the -- David. David Ortiz reminds a little bits. Of how -- Barry Bonds was in this series. -- he does you know. And we -- we -- half the time just put up for. And walk in the first -- no matter what the situation was because there you mean the -- up first like and so remember it's probably still congress. It it was one of those. Instant YouTube pick and choose to was not -- -- -- -- that's one thing Mike Scioscia and buddy black -- like Barry was not going to be that. And you know I think that's probably hopefully going into the next two games that will be the cardinals plan would -- the. Yeah I would take us inside that thought process a little bit David if you can because they know from the outside looking in even in the first inning. On the other night in a game five I know a lot of -- why you mean for space is open why even pitch into the guy. And Mike Metheny afterwards made it sound like -- of course we're gonna pitch tumor just trying to pitch carefully what's the thought process there. You know it's one of those things. I think we saw in game two -- actually pitched around an early on. With the with the open base and I think with Wainwright on the mound you know on election night you as a competitor thinks he did every single person that comes that the bat out. And it was like not not gonna give it up but. You millions hit that double and and get them on the board in the first inning. So the thought process I got that going forty -- -- in that situation I can't let -- -- you I would output of four and go on to the next batter. Because that's that's. He he has been their products that are. He has been the guy that you know all week. Can come through so I hopefully going forward I would think you'll see a little bit more of -- pitch around no matter what the union. Got a rookie on the mound and I've for Saint Louis how much is the pressure going to affect demand what can veterans do to try to calm the kid down. The killer has been like so like like nurses deal. He's he's taken the ball in just you know has dominated but I think the experience of pitching game two. -- and hopefully do a little run there early you know sometimes that can help them out but. I haven't seen him to be paid in you know and they I what can -- His last outing in the regular season against on the nationals. And then going forward throughout the playoffs and he just seems. He's like he's ready for anything it kind of reminds me of we were in the -- John Lackey in 2002. The young kids that have a lot of success. They're not -- by the moment. David next on with a -- 957 game follow him on Twitter at David extent 22. David do you remember. That 02 series when I'm sure you remember that obviously -- when dusty gives. Well Ortiz the ball when he takes not a game six and then you guys go nuts and rally. -- you guys aware did you guys actually see that has a lot of people said dusty -- in the done any angered the baseball gods were you guys even aware that happened at the time. The funny thing I would not put yet a lot of our teammates worked. And they were you and you know the game was over with yet and it kinda gives you that little excerpt. Well I guess in and right now c'mon. But yet that you mean that's one of the things even but likely until you like you know at 1006. When I was with Saint Louis. And the ninth getting all the -- went downstairs you know getting ready to celebrate my wife stayed in the stadium -- -- we do not -- -- the final hour of marriage. And and it's something that yes you know look at the they gave which he's the game ball right -- -- and it was something our guys did see. And they were not too happy. David you had some some you and you certainly do you have some dramatic World Series memories. But you also know it's like his every pro does. To get in a situation offensively where you're either just not seen it or not hit and it feels like the cardinals and their collectively right now. Is that because Boston knows how to pitch this team or Saint Louis sort of in a collective slump. I guess we think -- often has you know great pitching and they've done a great job of of holding down the cardinals offense are. The statement -- that this whole year. And though he knows the mobile that you Beltran right after holidays homer look like he had won and it goes to the warning track. And so I think some of that it has it has something to do with it and may be going back to Boston which is more hitter friendly. That they might be able to bomb put -- better at bats together but I think. They're trying to. Out of there a little bit -- -- they're seeing like I have seen him -- Are not work the count as well and -- -- borderline pitch and -- Matt carpenter you know a couple of pitches you know on contracts were not strike and and they are called strike three and so it's one of those things that yet collectively they just need to come together and find a way to work those of that that they've done all season. Do you think did decimals we'll try to ramp up the running game and all maybe -- put pressure on Boston at home. I bet I daylight when the last teams in stolen bases. I. Maybe it will be interesting I think I think if they -- -- the running game I think it can do more with this it runs. As opposed to just straight at stealing. You know because I think we Vietnam David Ross will be catching again that night and you know he is a fantastic catcher -- and throw our. So it probably depend on. On the times the plate Lackey knows how to hold out on the market state state lol like a one point three to the plate will be tough for the cardinals Iran. David you ever seen any thing or been involved in anything like the way the game Saturday and ended with the -- obstruction at third base. That right that game. And I thought I saw that they call home plate of my eyes immediately went to column. On the -- that third base and I saw that he was pointing which means obstruction. I had never seen that -- with. It was kind of -- anti climactic in the hope that you know when you know. -- in two and you know in that situation you want that they walk off win everyone's cheering and stuff it was like oh games over. So I had never seen something like that. And especially in that magnitude of the game. I understand in the clubhouse when the cardinals was -- subdued and one of the cardinals had to say hey guys we just won a World Series game -- we should be celebrating a little bit but it was just such an odd feeling in there. If you look agent didn't feel right it was not feeling in the stadium. And it is you know I think even the cardinals players would say they would rather who have. Yet they'll take the win but in the sense of it more of a a matter of sense that yes it was a definite this is how we want. And stuff but it was just that we're staying in -- within the stadium. It David we've been talking a lot this season about the fact that. Probably beginning next year and certainly in years to come replays gonna come in with a much greater force than it has so far. Any particular we've talked about that whole idea of the neighborhood play at second base -- yet you turned a billion times. Is that commenced chase the neighborhood play out of the game. Yet I think it well I think it will I think we've -- needed a couple times in the playoffs where they -- coming across the base in you know. Not even close to the base and call on the guy out it definitely world changed. The neighborhood play the because that they have to replay it -- in the seat majority guys that Geithner are are off debate when they're catching the ball. So but it was one of those things. I think going forward it's gonna truly make him stay on the day all he might feel maybe a little bit rules changed me with a -- frightened in the second base. Where he's -- and yet -- like college district in the -- that you definitely probably in the feel of the more collisions. Over at second base then all middle and pillars are not going to be as happy with the replay. Does this change then maybe the physical size of a second baseman you as a more diminutive middle infielder -- is this gonna make it smaller guys being endangered species out there. I don't think he'll get to be honest with you I would say at least 95% of the time I was on the days. Because that was like one of my pet -- Like I'll be touching base the so that there was going to be no doubt because you have certain umpires that will definitely call that even now. So it was one of -- -- piece of note the ability for you know just the Christmas the Christmas the Christmas. Turning the double play. And making sure you have the timing perfect so that you can get on such that they can get out the way. And to be honest I mean I'm actually a fan -- it because I am not a big fan of of guys come across and cheating because is actually cheating the guy who's running down the first base because they get the ball earlier to be able to throw the ball first base. Good guy Tim Wilson -- David Epstein David enjoy the rest of the series opened comes out the way here. Hoping it does they -- we appreciate -- David take care. A problem they have me on.
